The Student is a pattern that was popularized on the Bighorn River a few years ago, and has proven itself as a staple in our fly boxes! The Student is a great imitation of an adult mayfly. We use it during the BWO hatch here in the Black Hills with great success, and it can be adapted to many different mayflies. If you're heading to the Bighorn from March though November, this is a must-have pattern! Easy to tie and durable, you shouldn't be without a few Students in your arsenal.
