How to tie the Rojo Midge Originated by Greg Garcia. The original is tied on a TMC 200r. In this video we use a Firehole Sticks 317. Either hook makes a great fly. Use various combinations of thread and ribbing wire to create different color Rojo Midges. This video features a purple thread body with blue ultra wire. Tie this pattern in sizes 16-22. 

Materials Used to the Rojo Midge in Our Video

  • Hook: Firehole Sticks 317 Size 18
  • Thread: 12/0 Semperfli 
  • Bead: Small Red Glass Bead
  • Breathers: Dental Floss - or fine fly tying floss, white Datum GloBrite floss will work
  • Rib: Blue Small Ultra Wire
  • Thorax: Peacock Herl
