Fishing has been great throughout the area, and with the lower flows we’re starting to get into ‘normal’ summer fishing. Rapid Creek is finally working it’s way back down, and the fishing will continue to improve – the fish are going to be super fat and healthy with the high flows all summer, and it […]

With the drier weather over the past week, a lot of streams have come down and are in perfect shape. Rapid Creek has been coming down nicely as well, and if the current weather pattern continues it should be fishable in the next couple weeks.

Rapid Creek at Silver City is at 318, which is heading in the right direction. 200cfs or less is ideal, and closer to 125 is money. It should hopefully be down within the next couple weeks to a good level, as long as we don’t get a lot more moisture. Upper Rapid Creek near Black...

The water has come up a lot over the past week, but most of the creeks are back down to fishable levels. The fishing has been excellent most everywhere you can find clear water. If the visibility is in the 2′ range or more, you’re in good shape. Bigger flies and fish that aren’t spooky make high water nice!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is high and dirty. It will be several weeks at best before it’s fishable.

Rapid Creek below Pactola is high at 495, and is probably going to stay at that flow for a couple weeks at least. The...

Black Hills Fishing Report 7/5/2019

We had some significant rainfall yesterday around the Black Hills area, and a few streams came up quite a bit. That being said, most of our streams are coming back down – a lot of them are fishable today, and most of them will be by this weekend. Rapid Creek above Pactola and Box Elder got the worst of it, but nearly everywhere else is fishable. Don’t let the wet summer we’ve had so far keep you from fishing – it’s been excellent anywhere the water has decent visibility!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is blown. It...

The water has come down quite a bit on most of our streams over the past week, and most places – with the exception of Rapid Creek – are back down to near normal levels. The fishing has been excellent nearly everywhere, and even Rapid Creek has some great fishing from Pactola through Rapid City. Warmwater fishing opportunities for bass are getting started as well – it’s going to be a great week to be on the water in the Black Hills!
