We’ve been in quite the cool, damp weather pattern over the past few days, and the next few days look to be more of the same. Most of the creeks in the central Black Hills are high but fishable, with the northern hills streams being more normal flows. Despite the strange weather, the fishing has been excellent throughout the Black Hills!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is high, and will most likely come up quite a bit with the moisture over the next couple days. Let this come down below 200 cfs before making the drive up.

We’ve been in a bit of a cool, damp weather pattern recently, which has helped the stream flows out considerably. Nearly every stream in the Black Hills has great flows right now, and the fish are happy and less spooky than they typically would be. The weather looks like it’s going to turn around and be a bit more seasonal after the next couple days, and the fishing should continue to be great!

Rapid Creek above Pactola came up a bit with the rain the last couple days, but should fish well once it starts to drop back down after today....

We’ve got plenty of water around right now, and the fishing has been solid! We have great flows in all of our streams, and lake fishing has been great also. A few of our local streams are a little on the high side, but should come into great shape in the next week. Pike fishing is heating up as well!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is high and dirty. Give it another week or two and it will clear up a bit.

Spring has finally sprung in the Black Hills, and the fishing has been excellent. The water on most of our streams is up above average, but the vast majority of places are still very fishable. The dirtier water scares some folks off, but you can get away with bigger flies, heavier tippet, and the fish aren’t nearly as spooky. Fishing has been great for those who are willing to branch out a bit!

Rapid Creek near Silver City is blown out, and will most likely be muddy for the next couple weeks. Check back for our next report.

It looks like we’re finally out of the woods with the sub-zero temperatures for this winter thankfully. We’re forecast to get a fair amount of snow this afternoon/evening, and then the weather looks to be pretty conducive to getting out and doing some fishing! We apologize for the lack of reports over the past month – we haven’t been out much due to ice and temperatures in the single digits at best. We’ve been out a bit late last week and over the weekend however, and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the fishing.
