Black Hills fly fishing has been solid over the past couple weeks, and the snow that the upper elevations got has bumped the flows a bit. The weather this weekend looks to be great as well, and will make for some great fishing!

Rapid Creek above Pactola has come up a bit in flow, but will still fish well with nymphs. Bigger patterns will work better in the dirtier water – North Fork Specials, Jig Hare’s Ears, Mop Flies, Pat’s Rubber Legs, Rainbow Czech Nymphs, and worm patterns in size 10-14 will work well. Most of the fish are going...

Fishing has been fantastic throughout the lower elevations of the Black Hills, and the higher elevation streams have thawed out and are starting to fish great as well!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is a bit high and dirty, but you should be able to find some nicer fish with bigger nymph patterns. Tungsten worms, Mop Flies, Pat’s Rubber Legs, and various jig patterns in size 12-14 will work well. We’ve had a bit of a change in the weather over the past few days – we went from 100 degrees on Saturday, to 30 today and pretty heavy snowfall up in the Black Hills. The fishing has been solid over the past week, and the cooler temperatures should make for even better fishing over the next week!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is fishing well, from the lake all the way past Rochford. Hopper Dropper rigs have been working really well, but with the cooler nighttime temperatures you’re going to start catching less fish on the dry and more fish...

Fishing has been good to great depending on the day throughout the Black Hills, particularly in the mornings and late evenings when the weather and water temps are cooler. We have one more really hot day on tap this week, but then it looks like we will get back to more seasonable temperatures. Cooler temps will definitely bump the fishing into high gear!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is fishing well from Silver City well past Rochford. The further upstream you get, the better the dry fly and terrestrial fishing will be. In the Rochford area, hoppers have been working really...
