The weather and fishing have both been solid over the past week, and it looks like there’s going to be some great opportunities to get out this week as well! We’re slowly climbing out of the short days of the winter solstice, and the fishing has been steadily improving since then. There’s some solid fishing to be had this time of year, and we’re starting to see some dry fly opportunities as well.

Rapid Creek below Pactola is still at 35 cfs, which is a great flow for this time of year. There’s some fish on the surface on midges...

We’ve had a cool and snowy few days lately, but the fishing has still been solid. The nights are looking to be pretty cold over the next couple days, but highs will creep into the 40s later this week. The best fishing has been in the lower elevations around the foothills, but there’s some opportunities up higher as well.

Rapid Creek above Silver City has some opportunities, but it’s going to start to be pretty cold and pretty icy. If you’re headed up there, find some open water that’s fairly slow and deep and put a couple nymphs on. Tungsten Rainbow...

Winter has been here for the past few days, but it looks like the weather will be a little more favorable for getting out on the water later this week and this weekend. Despite the cold and damp weather, the fishing has continued to be excellent just about everywhere. Get out before winter actually comes!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is fishing well, with more or less the same stuff as we’ve been doing well with over the past few weeks. If you’re in the deeper holes, nymph rigs with slightly smaller droppers have been working well. Make sure you’re close to...

We have a warm few days ahead of us, but it looks to be a little cooler towards the end of the week into the weekend. Fishing has continued to be solid, and should continue to be great. Fall fishing is some of our favorite of the year, so take advantage of it!

Rapid Creek above Pactola is still fishing well. In most of the water you can get away with a Hippie Stomper or other terrestrial trailed by a tungsten nymph in size 14-16. Red Butts, Soft Spots, Pheasant Tails, Slim Jims, and Jig Assassins are good nymph patterns. If...

The weather has become a lot more spring like over the past few days, which is a nice change from the second winter we’ve been having. The fishing has been solid just about everywhere, and the flows have increased most places and opened up a lot more water to fish. There’s plenty of options for great fishing throughout the Black Hills for the coming week!

Rapid Creek above Pactola has been around 100cfs, and it’s pretty dirty most days. You can catch some fish on bigger nymphs, as well as streamers. Try a Tungsten Rainbow Czech, G-String Worm, Boat Anchor...
