Black Hills Fishing Report 6/26/13
Rapid Creek
Spearfish Creek
The canyon is fishing quite well. Ask us about Tenkara. It’s the ticket. Great nymph fishing. Fish are coming to the surface for little yellow stones, caddis, and a few pale evening dun mayflies.
Spring Creek
Flows are back up a bit. Fishing is quieting down a bit for trout- unless you like catching creek chubs. Bring the 0 weight!
Castle Creek
Fishing has been great below Deerfield. Fair amount of dry fly fishing. Baetis (aka Blue Winged Olives) continue to hatch. Little Yellow Stones are hatching. Nymphing has been quite productive as well.
Black Hills Lakes
Horse Thief, Sylvan, Center, Roubaix, and all of the other small lakes are fishing well with Mini Leeches, Wooly Buggers, and Sculpzilla’s down under, and with Parachute Adams and Callibaetis Spinners fooling some of the rising fish.
WARMWATER REPORT
Fishing continues to be good on the Missouri River near Pierre. Good Flies include Clousers, Ehler’s Crazi Craw, Airheads, Bully Buggers, Near Nuff Crayfish, and Rabbit Strip Clousers, among others. Swing by the shop and we’ll draw you up a map and show you where to go! Good fishing on the lakes closer to home. Bass fishing on area farm ponds is excellent. Good top water action.
