It’s been a cold few weeks throughout the Black Hills, but the weather today and the remainder of the week looks to be great for getting out and doing some fishing! The fishing has been solid most places, with the exception of some higher elevation stuff that’s getting icy. Spearfish Creek and Rapid Creek have been the most productive lately, but some of the smaller streams around have been seeing some good fishing as well. It’s going to be a solid week to get out on the water before winter sets in for good!

We’ve had a number of folks asking about beginning fly tying classes lately, so we decided to schedule a couple! You need no experience to attend these classes, and you don’t need to have any tools or materials either. That being said, feel free to bring your own stuff if you have it and want to use it. Pike fishing is heating up again throughout the Black Hills and surrounding area! This is a great time of year to be out chasing pike on a fly rod – they’re pretty shallow, aggressive, and the big fish are definitely looking to pack on a few pounds before winter sets in. We’ve had a good couple weeks of fishing throughout the Black Hills, and the coming weeks should bring more of the same! The next couple days are forecasted to be pretty nice, with a bit of a cool down towards the end of the week. Fall is a great time to be outside in the Black Hills, and the fishing has been solid.
